UNDERSTANDING THE LAND / LAYOUT

Wednesday 8 June 2016

Landscaping land layout starts with analysing the site, taking into consideration how you intend to transform the present site into a dream landscape. Before physically adding or taking away from the site, an evaluation should be performed to ensure quality results. Different natural features like terrain, topography, soil qualities, prevailing winds, and the system of native flora and fauna must be taken into consideration. Sometimes the land is not fit for landscaping in order to landscape it, the land must be reshaped this is called grading.

A landscape design is like a floor plan for an outdoor area which creates a visual representation of a site. The design should be suited for the site and its characteristics, also factors such as the slope, soil type, topography and intended use of the site, its aesthetic benefits coupled with its contribution to water and energy efficiency should be taken into consideration. Landscape plans consist of natural elements such as flowers, trees, grass as well as man-made elements such as lawn furniture, fountains, and sheds.
