TOOLS & EQUIPMENTS USED FOR LANDSCAPING

Wednesday, 8 June 2016

There is a wide variety of tools and equipment used for landscaping, many of the tools are multipurpose and can be used in different ways. Not all tools and equipment are made equally, having the right tools can make a huge difference. A variety of hand tools are used in landscaping to cut, dig, gather and remove natural materials such as fallen leaves and soil. Basic hand tools for cutting include pruning shears, hedge trimmers, curved landscaping knife and a pruning saw. Basic digging tools include spades, shovels and post-hole diggers. Tools to gather and remove materials include rakes, pitchforks, hoes, wheelbarrows and carts.

Power tools make landscaping work easier and faster. Leaf blowers, gas or electric hedge trimmers and chain saws can make the work of rakes, manual trimmers, cutters and saws go much faster. With power tools, a landscaping crew can double or triple the amount of work they complete daily.

Heavy equipment used in landscaping includes tillers, trucks, tractors, lifts and mowers for working with soil, trees and turf. Some of the basic services a landscaper perform are lawn care, edging, grading, fertilisering, seeding, soil preparation and much more. Landscaping work performed with power tools and heavy equipment requires attention to safety and the use of personal protective equipment to prevent accidents and injuries. Safety goggles protect eyes from flying debris from mowers, blowing equipment, cutting tools and equipment. Leather gloves protect hands and fingers from cuts, blisters, punctures and burns. Steel-tip work boots protect feet and toes from cuts, bruising and crush injuries due to heavy falling objects or being caught in equipment.

Do you use yours tools and equipment in a safe and proper way?
